Professor Kostas Skordoulis [Keynote Speaker Summer School, Greece]


Constantine-(Kostas) Skordoulis is Professor of Epistemology of Science and currently Head of the Department of Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, where he teaches Theory and Philosophy of Scientific Knowledge. He is also External Research Fellow & Supervisor in the Department of Education in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, Anglia Ruskin University, UK and also Coordinator of the Module “History of Science, Epistemology and Didactical Methodology”, in the School of Science and Technology of the Hellenic Open University. He has studied Physics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK and has a PhD in Quantum Optics from the University of Ioannina and the NHRF, Athens. He has worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Universities of Oxford (UK), Jena (Germany) and Groningen (Netherlands) holding scholarships from DAAD (Germany) and NWO (Netherlands). He is Effective Member of the International Academy of History of Science, Secretary of the Teaching Commission of the Division of History of Science and Technology of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and has served as a Member of the Council of the European Society for History of Science (2012-2015). He is Co-Editor of “Almagest / International Journal for the History of Scientific Ideas”  (Brepols, Belgium) and member of the Editorial Boards of the journals “Science & Education” (Springer), “Journal of Critical Education Policy Studies” (IEPS, UK), “International Journal of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences” (CG Publishers, USA), “Green Theory and Praxis” (ICAS, USA), and “Advances in Historical Studies” (SRP, USA). He is also Co-Editor of the “Newsletter for the History of Science in South Eastern Europe” and Co-Editor of the Journal “Kritiki: Critical Science & Education” (Nissos Pbl, Athens).
He has published extensively on issues of History and Epistemology of Science and on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI).
